Puig and Cardinez finished their live batting in Mesa, Arizona, the U.S. on Tuesday local time. The two foreign hitters hit balls thrown by Kiwoom pitchers Joo Seung-woo, Lee Kang-joon and Son Hyun-ki.

"The two players focused on checking the timing and balance by watching as many balls as possible," a Kiwoom official said. "Puig made several strong hits with his unique powerful swing, and Cadines also showed a stable hit based on his contact ability."

"Both Puig and Cardinez showed good performance in live batting training," batting coach Oh Yoon said. "They are players who have advantages in hitting, so if they prepare well during the camp period, I expect them to show good performance this season."

"Pugh is returning to KBO League." Rumors of Puig Kiwoom's return are getting better

"In my first live batting, I watched a lot of balls and tried to get used to them," Puig said. "There were foul balls, but overall timing was not bad. I am having fun training with my teammates that I haven't seen in a while. I will prepare well for the practice game scheduled for the second camp in Taiwan."

"It was great to see pitchers' balls for the first time in a long time. Since it was my first live batting performance since recovering from injury, I focused on hitting the ball accurately," Cardinez said. "Currently, my physical condition is perfect. I will prepare well for the season while maintaining a healthy body."

Kiwoom was the only foreign player among the 10 clubs this season with one pitcher and two batters.

Puig, who played for Kiwoom in 2022, returned to the Korean stage for the first time in three years at the end of November last year under a full guarantee contract of $1 million (1.45 billion won). Cadines, who played in seven games under the registered name of Cadenas for the Samsung Lions last year, signed a total of $600,000 (KRW 860 million) with Kiwoom and continues to play in the KBO League.
